Diana Pearson

Born and raised in Port Alberni, B.C., Diana Pearson (age 20) is an aspiring solo artist
who is quickly gaining momentum in the Vancouver Island music scene.
As a young girl, Diana showed a great interest in music. She studied piano with the
Royal Conservatory of Music for several years, earning First Class Honours throughout.
With keen instructors and a supportive family, Diana became involved with many musical projects
in her community and continued to grow as a musician. In her senior year of high school, she
decided to attend post-secondary education in music at Vancouver Island University, and
in the Spring of 2009 completed her Jazz Studies Diploma for piano and voice.
Despite her formal training, Diana would say that her most valuable lessons have come from
practical experience. ``I wanted to perform – so that`s what I did. I promoted myself by
scrambling together a demo, contacting venues, making posters and learning the ins and outs
of self-promotion. It really helped me get a sense of what it takes to be successful in the industry.
Aside from performing extensively on the island, Diana has been featured at various local events
such as the North Island College Ceremonies, the Annual Wine Festival, and most recently, the
2010 Olympic Torch Ceremony.
As a songwriter, her songs consist of catchy melodies, emotionally-driven lyrics and an
overall easy listening vibe. She is currently in the process of recording her first EP, which
should be out in the Spring of 2010.
