Sassy was a cover band playing in the Port Alberni area in the late 70’s. Mike Pearson replaced Tommy Au in the early 80’s, and the band eventually  changed their name to Mainstreet. They went through varied personnel changes in the years they were playing together, and finally ended up with the line-up of Betty Ann Massey (Courtney) on lead vocals, Glenn McMurray on guitar/bass, Gerry Francoeur on drums, Jos Van Poederooyen on keys, and Mike Pearson on guitar/bass, with all members of the band sharing extra vocal duties. They enjoyed popularity in Port Alberni, Nanaimo, Parksville, Ucluelet and Tofino until their eventual disbandment. Other members of the band over the years included Rick Shick on drums, Ron Clifford on bass, Gordie Rhodes on bass, and Gary Wait on vocals/guitar.
